Singer and brother of Nick Carter was 34 – The Hollywood Reporter

Aaron Carterwho rose to fame at an early age as a singer, TV personality and younger brother of the Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter, who died on Saturday. He was 34 years old.

A representative of his management team confirms The Hollywood Reporter that he was found dead at his home in Lancaster, California. No cause of death was given. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said THR that a suspicious death occurred at the address of Carter’s residence but could not confirm the identity.

Born in Tampa on December 7, 1987, Carter made his debut as the opening act for the Backstreet Boys while touring in 1997. His debut album, Aaron Carter, was released over a year when he was just 9 years old and achieved gold status.

His follow-up album, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), dropped in September 2000 and went triple platinum. It featured the singles “I Want Candy”, “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” and “That’s How I Beat Shaq”, and he supported the album as opening act for the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears on the Oops!…I Did It Again Tour.

Carter’s third album, Oh Aaronwent platinum in 2001, and has since released two, most recently To like in 2018.

He dabbled in acting, appearing on shows such as Lizzie McGuire, Sabrina, the teenage witch and 7th Sky and in films such as Fat Albert (2004) and Channing Tatum with super cross (2005). Carter made her Broadway debut in 2001 as JoJo the Who in Seussical the Musical and later had a long career as a cast member of the off-Broadway production of The Fantastic.

Carter has also made numerous unscripted TV appearances, including alongside Nick and their siblings BJ, Aaron, Leslie and Angel Carter on the E! series House of the Carters in 2006. Leslie died of a drug overdose in January 2012 at the age of 25.

Among his other television credits, he appeared on the 2009 season of ABC’s Dancing with the starsfinishing in fifth place, and on Food Network’s Culinary Battle Series Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off in 2012.

Carter was a staple of gossip sites and known for headlines surrounding his personal life, dating back to his early years as a teen idol. He welcomed his son Prince with Melanie Martin in November 2021.

Over the years, the star has been open about her substance abuse struggles, including in a 2017 episode of The doctors. In September 2022, he said he checked himself into rehab for the fifth time in a bid to regain custody of his son. He had previously entered rehab in 2017 following an arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence and marijuana charges.

During a podcast interview no rider which was posted on YouTube earlier this month, Carter said he’s grateful for all his previous successes and remains hopeful for the future, even if he doesn’t care about becoming more famous.

“I enjoyed it all, and I’m back to doing it — that’s what I’m back to doing,” Carter said of focusing on her music again. “I don’t really care about [stardom] because I’ve had so many levels in the industry, and fame and fortune, and ups and downs – it’s like a roller coaster.… I’m a singer, songwriter, performer, and that’s what I do, and I’m never going to give it up.
