Conservatives on Twitter teared up President Joe BidenFriday night’s latest gaffe, in which he claimed Democrats campaigned in “54 states” in 2018 to defend Obamacare.
During his Friday night remarks at the “Pennsylvania Democratic Party Reception,” Biden touted his party’s success in protecting the Affordable Care Act from dismantling during former President Donald Trump’s tenure.
Trump had campaigned to replace Obamacare, although, as Biden claimed on Friday, Democrats campaigned in 2018 to prevent that from happening. In his speech, he warned that the GOP would attack their health care if they won a majority in Congress.

At a rally in Pennsylvania, President Biden claimed there were “54 states”.
Two-thirds into his speech, Biden said, “And, of course, they’re going to try for their 499th time, or whatever the number — they’re still committed to eliminating the Affordable Care Act. And, by the way, if they do, that means – no joke, everyone.”
Then he made his final viral statement. He said, “That’s why we beat it in 2018 when they tried to do it. We went to 54 states.”
He added: “The reason is that people haven’t realized that the only reason someone with a pre-existing condition can get health care is because of this Affordable Care Act,” and warned that “these protections will also disappear if Republicans get what they want.“
Although conservative critics have been concerned about the number of states mentioned by the president.
Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Co.lambasted Biden for the apparent gaffe, tweeting, “Joe Biden now says there are 54 states. Guess if you count the states of denial, confusion, delusion, and catastrophe his regime has caused, he might just be onto something.”
