Police: 6 dead in a murder-suicide discovered after a fire

Police say Connor McKisick died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Hi there. My name is Torin Misko. I’m with the Heartland Police Department. I am the chief of police. Uh, I have a quick update on our fatal incident at Mansfield Court. The six dissidents located at 700 Mansfield Court in the village of Hartland have *** a single gunshot wound. Connor McKee, six with gunshot wounds, was determined to be self-inflicted. The details and background of all other individual injuries are still under investigation. There is also evidence of a flammable liquid in the apartment where it would not normally be. No other persons of interest have been identified as part of this investigation and there is no further danger to the community regarding this incident. This incident remains an active investigation by the Heartland Police Department in conjunction with the Walker County Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Fire Marshal through the Criminal Investigations Division of the Department of Justice. of Wisconsin. This is a *** tragic incident for the family of the deceased. Our first responders and the Heartland community. The family have asked for privacy as they mourn the loss of loved ones. I would therefore ask everyone to respect this request for confidentiality. I’m going to give the floor to Village Manager Ryan Bailey with information that the Village of Heartland is doing for some of the displaced owners. Okay, very quickly, the fire on Friday, October 21 displaced three families from their homes. We are collecting and desperately need gift cards to give these families immediate food and clothing needs. , Wiggly and Heartland also collect gift cards and donations. I would like to take a quick *** minute to thank all of the Fire, County, State and Federal Police Departments who assisted and continue to assist with this incident and investigation. I would like to thank our Heartland Police Department, Heartland Fire Department, Heartland Public Works Department, and Police, Fire, and Administrative Staff. I would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support and their willingness to help in *** of need who will answer all questions. Chief of police, if you don’t mind, have any police officers responded to this house for calls for duty in the past? I don’t have all this information at the moment. This is still an active investigation. There is *** forensic process. 200% identify uh these liquids, but it’s definitely a *** flammable liquid we can talk about found in this apartment in this small apartment. Again, we still have this as an active investigation. We are working on all these details. So I don’t have any information on this at the moment as to when the people inside the apartment were shot and we did this is there any indication that this happened hours before the fire started? The time that has elapsed. We are still working with the Walker County Medical Examiner to try to determine the exact times. But we believe it was closely related to the time of our call which was 5:11 that morning. Who called for help that morning? I’m sorry what was it again? Is still an active investigation. We’ve been working with ***TF on this and we have some of this information, but we haven’t 100% confirmed everything on this yet. Who called for help that morning, we received several phone calls from neighbors in that yard. Did you recover the weapon? All the firearms we have collected several firearms from the Clarification Department. There are different surnames in the family. Mixed family. Do you think there were adoptions or is it family members? How it works? It was a *** blended family with *** blended family situation. How are you guys? I have to imagine that was a *** hard call for you guys, definitely a *** tragic incident, one that I don’t think anyone is looking forward to. Something to which the police and fire brigade are here ready to respond. I believe our staff, both police and firefighters, are handling this tragic incident very well. Joined here today by Fire Chief Dave Jam Brits. Um and we obviously always have the welfare of our first responders in mind, do the incidents that they respond to and for this one in particular we did a critical incident, stress debriefing up to and including uh about to continue and right now, what’s next in the investigation? We are still working with the Wash County Medical Examiner. As you can imagine. These things can take days, weeks or even months to have final decisions from the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office. And then we’re still working with the state marshal or the state fire marshal on this and in an investigation of the fires. It’s correct. OK. And were they the children of Connor and Jessica? That’s right. That’s all the information I have for you at the moment. Thank you all for coming tonight.
