The quarterbacks headlined the early action of Week 7 in the NFL.
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones rushed for 309 total yards in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. And Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw for more than 400 yards against an exhausted Atlanta Falcons secondary.
The Giants improved to 6-1 overall, while the Bengals offense took off with another flurry of points. Elsewhere, the Carolina Panthers upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Washington Commanders stunned the Green Bay Packers.
Week 7 continues with an intriguing afternoon slate. Miami Dolphins star Tua Tagovailoa is back under center as the Miami Dolphins take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night.

Arizona Cardinals 42, New Orleans Saints 34
Briefly: Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins made his triumphant return in style. Hopkins, who was suspended six games for violating NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs, carried in 10 catches for 103 yards. The Cardinals defense also played well with three interceptions that proved to be the difference in the game.
A strong point to know: Cardinals linebacker Isaiah Simmons scored on a 56-yard interception return in the second trimester. It was the second-6 pick the Cardinals had in the game.
Next : The Cardinals will face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8. The Saints will host the Las Vegas Raiders.
Tennessee Titans 19, Indianapolis Colts 10
Briefly: The Titans took control of the AFC South behind a stellar defensive performance. Tennessee forced three turnovers and pissed off Colts quarterback Matt Ryan all afternoon. Ryan threw for 243 yards but threw two costly interceptions. The Titans took advantage and scored 10 points on errors. It was enough to help the Titans win their fourth straight game.
A strong point to know: Titans safety Andrew Adams scored on a 76-yard interception return. It was his eighth career interception and first touchdown in the NFL.
Next : The Titans face the Houston Texans in Week 8 and the Colts face the Washington Commanders.
Washington Commanders 23, Green Bay Packers 21
Briefly: Commanders quarterback Taylor Heinicke delivered his first start of the season. He completed 20 of 33 passes for 201 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. In the third quarter, Heinicke found star receiver Terry McLaurin for a 37-yard touchdown to give Washington the lead. The defense held off a late comeback from the Packers to move to 3-4 this season. The Packers lost their third straight game when the offense accounted for just 232 yards.
A strong point to know: Packers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell scored on a 63-yard interception return early in the second quarter.
Next : The Packers face the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. The Commanders have a road game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Cincinnati Bengals 35, Atlanta Falcons 17
Briefly: Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 481 yards and three touchdowns against an exhausted Falcons secondary. The Bengals had four goals in the first half to take control at halftime. Cincinnati hosts Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd combined for 21 catches, 223 yards and three scores. The Falcons were held to 214 yards in the loss.
A strong point to know: Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd scored a 60-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He averaged 19.4 yards per catch on nine targets.
Next step : The Falcons host the Carolina Panthers in Week 8, while the Bengals take on the Cleveland Browns in Battle of Ohio next Monday.
Baltimore Ravens 23, Cleveland Browns 20
Briefly: The Ravens improved to 4-3 overall despite just 254 total yards. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson completed nine passes and struggled against the Cleveland defense. Ravens running back Gus Edwards charged with two touchdowns. The Browns attempted a late field goal from 60 yards, but it was blocked when time expired.
A strong point to know: Ravens running back Gus Edwards scored a 7-yard touchdown in his first game against a knee injury.
Next : The Ravens will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. The Browns take on AFC North rivals the Cincinnati Bengals in Battle of Ohio.
New York Giants 23, Jacksonville Jaguars 17
Briefly: Giants quarterback Daniel Jones put in another impressive performance as the Giants improved to 6-1 on aggregate. Jones had 309 yards (107 rushing) and two touchdowns in the win. He led a comeback in the fourth quarter as his 1-yard score gave the Giants a late lead. Jaguars running back Travis Etienne had 114 rushing yards and a touchdown.
A strong point to know: Giants quarterback Daniel Jones rushes for a 24-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
Next : The Giants will face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8 and the Jaguars will face the Denver Broncos.
Carolina Panthers 21, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3
Briefly: The Panthers put up a solid defensive effort to shut down the Buccaneers’ attack. Carolina pissed off Tom Brady as he went 32 of 49 passes for just 290 yards. Panthers running backs D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard filled the role well after Christian McCaffrey left earlier in the week. The backfield duo totaled 181 yards and a touchdown against the Buccaneers’ stingy running defense.
A strong point to know: Panthers receiver DJ Moore scored a 20-yard touchdown just before halftime to give Carolina a 7-0 lead.
Next : The Panthers will face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8. The Buccaneers will face the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.
Dallas Cowboys 24, Detroit Lions 6
Briefly: Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott returned from injury to help set up an impressive Week 8 win. Prescott was efficient completing 19 of 25 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown. Ezekiel Elliott also stepped in with two rushing touchdowns. The Lions offense spat and suffered another blow when receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was ruled out with a concussion early in the game.
A strong point to know: Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott extended a third-quarter lead with a short touchdown against the Lions. He finished with 57 rushing yards in the afternoon.
Next up: The Cowboys take on the Chicago Bears in Week 8, while the Lions take on the Miami Dolphins.
New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos

What there is to know: The Broncos will be without QB Russell Wilson against the Jets. Denver will look to replacement Brett Rypien as he makes his second career start. Houston Texans vs. Las Vegas Raiders

What there is to know: Both teams are looking to bounce back from Week 6 losses. Expect the ultimate chess match as the 49ers’ top-ranked defense duels with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ high-octane offense.
Seattle Seahawks vs Los Angeles Chargers

Chicago Bears vs. New England Patriots

What there is to know: New England Patriots found success behind replacement QB Bailey Zappe and improved defense. The question is whether Zappe or fellow QB Mac Jones will start this week.
