Cardi B Reacts to Reflection on Madonna’s ‘Sex’ Book – Billboard

Update: As of late Sunday morning, Cardi B and Madonna have make amends. Cardi wrote about Twitter that she had a “nice” conversation with Madonna. And the Queen of Popular tweeted“Love you @iamcardib!! Always have and always will.” Cardi also deleted her reactionary tweets.

Cardi B feels slighted after being mentioned in Madonnareflection on the 30th anniversary of its Sex coffee table book.

The superstar rapper took to social media on Sunday, October 23, to hit back at the Queen of Pop following a Instagram post on how the iconic singer’s then-scandalous book – released alongside her 1992 album, Erotic – helped pave the way for other female artists to express their sexuality.

“30 years ago I published a book called SEX In addition to pictures of me naked, there were pictures of men kissing men, women kissing women, and me kissing everyone,” Madonna wrote Saturday night, noting that she had been the subject of much criticism at the time. “Now Cardi B can sing about her WAP. Kim Kardashian can cover any magazine with her bare ass and Miley Cyrus can arrive like a wrecking ball.

She ended with, You’re welcome b–es,” alongside a clown face emoji.

In a series of deleted tweets since the next morning, Cardi wrote that she felt disrespected by the post, especially Madonna’s use of the clown emoji.

“I’ve literally paid tribute to this woman so many times because I grew up listening to her…she can make her point without putting on clown emojis and getting her mouth licked,” said the rapper. wrote next to a screenshot of a 2018 Billboard article in which she praises Madonna. “These icons really become disappointments once you’ve made it in the industry, which is why I’m keeping them to myself.”

Some Twitter users wrote that Cardi didn’t understand Madonna’s point of view, noting that Madge said she “paved the way for sex songs to become mainstream” and that the singer was not trying to insult the rapper.

“I know exactly what she said and I understand,” Cardi replied“but it’s about THE TONE… You call me b—-es and you put on clown emojis? The F-!”

In a similar reaction, the rapper wrote“SAY EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY BUT DON’T INSULT ME THE F— … no one is going to please me (especially a white woman).”

Later Sunday morning, Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee tweeted that he was “on the phone with Madonna and Cardi” and that listening to the stars “share their perspective on the ongoing communication has expanded their love for each other.”

Shortly after, Cardi and Madonna took to Twitter to share that they had patched things up. “I spoke to Madonna…It was beautiful…Have a nice day and drive safe,” the rapper said. wrote. Madonna added“Love you @iamcardib!! Always have and always will.”

In 2018, Cardi gushed after meeting her ‘idol’ Madonna at an Oscars after-party, where she posed for photos alongside the singer and Kardashian.

“I met my true idol Madonna. I can’t even believe I performed at her event and it was the most meaningful performance ever,” Cardi wrote on Instagram at the time. I grew up with my mother listening to Madonna for hours. I played “Material Girl” freshman year in high school, listened to it on all my photoshoots for super confidence, and always mentioned it in my interviews.
